Echleon Malaysia Satellite Event 2014

Welcome Speech by Thaddeus Koh, Chief Operating Officer and Co-founder of e27.

The Echleon Malaysia Event was held in Cyberview Lodge Resort & Spa, Persiaran Multimedia Cyberjaya 63000 Selangor on 10th March 2014. It started at 1 p.m and lasted for about 5 hours.

The Satellite event is the preliminary stage of Echelon whereby 21 startups pitch in major Asian countries such as Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Taiwan and Indonesia at a chance to be shortlisted at one of the 12 satellites across Asia. The winner for each city progresses to pitch to key investors and community leaders in Echelon Singapore.

Recently, we attended another one of GBG’s event titled ‘How Search Works’. It was held in Megan Avenue 1, Jalan Tun Razak, 50400 Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, 6th March 2014. The event started at about 2.15 p.m. and ended a little after 4 p.m. There were biscuits and some other finger food provided as well as coffee, tea and plain water for the 35 attendees who showed up that day.

Recently we attended another interesting discussion on the funding gap in Asia. The event was held at Wisma N2N Auditorium, Tower 2 Avenue 3, Bangsar South last Wednesday (27th November) at 5.30 p.m. It was a very small event with only about 35 people present. The panelist consisted of Dr. Gabriel Walter, co-founder of Quantum Electro Opto Systems (QEOS), Patrick Grove, Catcha Group Founder, DTA Capital Partners Chief Executive Officer, Dali Sardar and Nizran Noordin CEO of TaxiMonger.

The Google Partners Event @ Aloft, KL Sentral

Panel discussion with representatives from SearchGuru, Gapture, Locus-T and Optisage Technology 

The Google Partners event was once again spectacular and memorable, with over 50 guests present. The ambience definitely was impressive and quickly made you feel at home. The event was held in Aloft, KL Sentral at 6 p.m. on the 20th of November. The location was excellent, as it was very near our office. Upon arrival, I was invited to take a photo by the customary photographer at the photo booth. It was wonderful. As usual, there were props provided to make the pictures look more interesting. The props included a wine glass, a mustache, a hat and other attractive items. The photo taking sessions at Google events are really quite interesting. There was also a variety of food served that night, ranging from traditional Malay kuih, desserts, and small cakes to noodles, spring rolls and curry puffs. Drinks included wine, beer, and fruit punch.
