Google’s Latest Roll-Out – The Penguin 3.0

Penguin 3.0

After almost a year, Google has finally confirmed their latest roll-out last Friday. The Penguin 3.0 was launched on Oct 17th, which aims to penalize spammy links, any optimized anchors, and low quality back-links. Although the new update was not as obvious as the Penguin 2.0, there has been speculation by many SEO agencies in the U.S who noticed the subtle changes in Google’s algorithm. This hit was a lot more elusive and less noticeable compared to the other Penguin updates.

This is currently the 6th roll-out from Google and for most of us, it’s bad news. Even if your sites have not been penalized by Google, you should still be worried.  So if you have engaged cheap SEO consultants who are building cheap quality back-links, now’s the time to get rid of them. Just like any other Penguin update, the Penguin 3.0 is to make sure most websites are rewarded fairly and are within Google’s guidelines.

The significance of the new Penguin 3.0 roll-out is still in study, taking into consideration, the Penguin 2.0 update which affected 2.3% of English, U.S queries, according to Google – which might seem like a small number to you, has impacted thousands of online revenues and has affected website traffic by 90%, sinking many online businesses.

John Mueller confirms the Penguin 3.0 update. Remembering Google’s Head of Search Spam, Matt Cutt’s statement in regards to the Penguin update in 2012, saying “the updates are going to be jarring and jolting for a while.” We definitely believe him.
